Celebrating 10 years of moving to the beat of our own drum.Today, and for the next two weeks, Monki celebrates its first ten years of offering Scandi cool-meets-Asian-street-style fashion. And kicking off our big one-oh party is a birthday collection showing the very heart of Monki design!

In the B-day collection, our head of Design Caroline Carlryd and her team have taken key Monki elements from the last ten years to a new fashion level, celebrating the past—and looking towards the future! We are celebrating our first decade as a brand, and what better way than to cut to the core of Monki design and celebrate the things we have brought to the retail landscape. This collection shows our soul. This is what we love.

The first element: the signature Monki silhouette. Combining oversized garments, beautiful lines and contrasting elements like cropped trousers, the collection highlights the play on proportions that always makes up the first double helix in the Monki style DNA. The second element: prints. In the anniversary collection, oversized monki feet and doodles combine fun with sophistication. The third element: a walk down memory lane with a colour palette old Monki fans are sure to know and love: deep mustards, rich blues and plenty of black to set it off.

Key garments?

The chunky faux-shearling kimono coat is want-piece of course, as is the even chunkier quilted coat. As always, denim forms a center point, combining Monki elements with inspiration from Asian techniques like boro. The white shirt gets an update, with a beautifully cut winged back. The pinstripe on pinstripe look is a Monki take on suiting, with pinstripe dungarees, a pinstripe pleat dress and, again, pinstripe trousers.

The fold-over culottes, wide-fitting, cropped and in a super soft woolen material are inspired by classic Asian cuts. And soft knits, such as the oversized knitted jumper in a classic Monki pattern, combined with pattern-knitted tights are made for those days when you want to look dressed up but feel like you’ve dressed down. And lets not forget the monkis. Fans of Monki’s own mascots will welcome Oki’s new fancy faux shearling fur.
